catch up and a layout

hello blogger friends

what a fantastic November we are having. summer finally seems to have arrived and the Scrapbook Convention came to PE for the first time ever!

and as you know PE ladies rock and we had the best day last week Saturday Scrapping with Glenda and Jowilna at the Radisson.Christmas themed, we did layouts and projects and cards. Can't say too much more until the ladies in Cape Town and Johannesburg have had their turn. So watch this space to see what we did at convention!

Over at Scrapbook Challenges is this week's sketch - 323.

Here is my take on it.

i don't usually use big titles on my layouts, but quite like this one. thanks to my trust cricut machine for the title.

I used an old sheet of Kaisercraft, and cardstock. 2 sheets of paper were embossed in the cuttlebug and embossed, one with glitter powder (circles) and the other with ink.

the spritzing on the cardstock didn't quite come out too well.

hope you do the sketch, and post it to the gallery at scrapbook challenges.

happy scrappin' this week :)

A ladies diary layout

Good day bloggers!!

Over at Scrapbook Challenges earlier this month i did sketch 321.

Here is the sketch:

This is my layout for the Sketch Crew:

i used the gorgeous ladies diary range from Graphic 45, paper and chipboard as well as flowers and brands from their stapels range.

I distressed the papers and used the paper as journalling tags. I didn't matt my photo, but sanded it instead.

My little girl is growing up so fast, i can't believe she is 3 and a half already. Such a sweet child, i love scrapping these pretty pictures of her!

Hope you are able to capture your precious moments to and create a beautiful album to reminise over in years to come.

Happy scrappy weekend.

Little Yellow Bicycle Kit

Dear fellow Scrapbookers

Trust you all had a fabulous weekend, and are back into the swing of the working week!

Since yesterday was Monday, that means there is a new sketch over at Scrapbook Challenges - Sketch 319.

Here is the single layout sketch:

Pop on over to see what the other Sketch Crew members have come up with!

I got this awesome Little Yellow Bicyle paper - 'splash' range. I made a lovely summer beach kit, with chipboard and double sided paper. I so enjoyed this kit, I will definitely be doing more Little Yellow Bicycle kits in the future.

Here is the kit, which sold out this weekend at the I-Scrap function:

I used 2 double sided papers, made some tags, and used the paper to make waves.

How cute are these chipboard pieces? The lollipops went perfectly with the pictues I wanted to use.

This is a bonus single layout I included in the kit, as there was so much chipboard over. What a great value for money packet of chipboard shapes!

I hope to get some scrapbooking done this week. Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy Scrappin'

I-Scrap Function & Sketch 318

Hello bloggers

It is a lazy Sunday afternoon in our house. Poor Morgan has been suffering with a sore throat, so its been movies and relaxing.

This weekend was I-Scrap's Scrapbook weekend. I was a teacher yesterday and the ladies were fabulous. I had such a good time with them, and was so pleased to have been asked by Jenny to be a teacher.

Here is the layout I did:

The kit was made from the gorgeous Prima 'Rondelle' range. I used 2 double sided 12"x12" papers,  6"x6" papers, chipboard and American Craft cardstock.

This is a pocket with tags for journalling.

On the top left hand page i made a flap, with space for journalling and more photos. There was also a secret pocket for storing personal letters or more photos.

There was so much paper and chipboard left over, so i made this bonus single layout for the ladies:

This sketch is this week's challenge over at Scrapbook Challenges. Sketch 318 - i distressed the papers, sanded the papers and embellished with chipboard.

The weekend was a wonderful success, welcome to Jenny at I-Scrap. and here's to many more of your wonderful weekends

Happy Scrappin'

I love this layout

Welcome Friends,

Hope that you all had a fabulous weekend. Did you get much scrapbooking done?

The new sketch is up at Scrapbook Challenges, Sketch 316.

What a great sketch to work with! I've been wanting to do a layout of Morgan for a while now, where i record her quirks and things she likes at the momenet. we always think we will remember, but sadly as time goes on we don't. I'm a huge one to advicate journallling, but so slack in doing it myself. So here it is!!

My Minds Eys - Lost and found range (alpha stickers, paper). Prima Flowers.

Love all the texture on this page. The glitter on the paper, the paint on the stamp, pearl mist on the doilie, the flowers, the lace - just so girly!

I used a 7 gypysy stamp for the top journalling spot, and a kaisercraft (up, up, away range) for the bottom journal spot.

SOmetime you have an idea of how you want your layout to come out, and it doesn't always work that way! Well i'm so pleased with this one. It was exactly what i had in mind.

I remember the day she asked for this picture to be taken. Was January/February this year. She said i must do a 'photoshoot' of her and her babies!!! lol. too cute, got such great pics since she was in a posing mood. the dolls were pretty good too.....

Please remember to upload your take on the sketch to the Scrapbook Challenges website.

Have a super duper week friends!

Update and a layout

Happy weekend Bloggers!

August and September have been such hectic months...... between sick family members, sick myself, work overload, and life in general i have missed my precious blog.

I have been doing lots of scrapping though, with my sister, alone and with some friends - although my wish is that the scrapping on a wednesday night with my friends would be possible each week. love those gals!

Here is last week's sketche from Scrapbook Challenges, and my layout to go with them.

Sketch 311

My layout - Timeless Memories.

My gran passed away earlier this year, at the ripe old age of 93years. My folks went to the UK and i was so pleased when my mom returned with a shoebox of photo! They are in really good condition, most with the photo information on the back. This one is a picture of my gran and my dad. there is no date on the photo but i guess my dad is about 4 years old - making the pic about 1947/1948.

This is the start of my heritage album. bliss with gorgeous graphic 45 papers and lace. The tickets are from Tim Holtz and the 'timeless memories' transparency is from Tracey Slaven - Scrapper T.

I enjoyed this sketch very much. If you play along please be sure to share your layout on the SBC Gallery.

We have a long weekend here in South Africa. Monday is Heritage Day, which means 'Braai Day' (or in other words Barbeque Day!) Lets hope the weather holds.

Have a scrappy weekend friends

New Sketch - Beauty

Welcome back friends

Hope you are having a good week so far. I'm happy to report that the rain has held off for at least 2 days and its been rather hot.

I am still hopeful however that Port Elizabeth reaches the milestone of 'wettest winter ever'. if we had to contend with all that rain, water, hectic traffic, cabin fever kids etc, we may as well get some recognition for it!

Please pop on over to Scrapbook Challenges for the weekly sketch. This week i decided to do a double layout. I absolutely love these pics of Morgie and I have been dying to use them. Was quite glad to be able to use them all together.

Beauty

The paper is an old Daisy D's range, with a gorgeous texture.
Flowers i used are Petallo and the white ones are from my stash.
The gorgeous bling alphabet stickers are Lost and Found range from Memory Works.

Here is sketch 308:

Use your stash - alphabets

Hello

We are having a lovely long weekend here in South Africa. Thursday was Womans Day and the schools closed today, making it a 4 day well deserved break.

Over at Scrapbook Challenges it is my turn to a challenge. And its 'use your alphabet stash'. Remember that August theme is 'vacation', so i have done 2 examples.

Here is the first example layout I did:

The ABC of striking a Pose.

I used my alphabet stickers as an embellishment cluster. I used various colours and fonts on a white background.
The strips of paper framing the 2 photos are offcuts in my stash.

The Second example is using various alphabets is to create a feature of your title. Here again I have used left over alphabet stickers, in various fonts and colours.

Those Summer Days

As with all the August challenges, including Sizzling Summer of Sketches, I am using leftovers, offcuts and many old things from my stash. Its a great way to get some quick layouts done, and using your stash at the same time.

Please pop on over to Scrapbook Challenges and take part in the challenge. And don't forget the daily sketch for Sizzling Summer of Sketches.

Have a fantastic weekend

Month of Sketches

Good day bloggers

Trust that you had a wonderful weekend. Here in PE we have had so much rain, if you live in South Africa you may have seen it on the news. They have predicted we may experience the wettest winter EVER!!

So what does a girl do other than stay inside and scrap? (if only it was that easy :))

Over at Scrapbook Challenges we have a month of sketch challenge. There is over an additional 20+ sketches this month. WOW!

Here are last week's sketches:

Here is my take on sketch 1:

In 2009 when I was pregnant with Morgan we went to dear Heather Stevens for a photoshoot. Even though I have scrapped these pictures so much, I still love them! She captured the moment so well and the soft colours make them ideal for scrapbooking.

I am challenging myself to use my stash for the Sizzling Summer of Sketches. Here I have used a very old piece of paper, ribbon is American Craft Ribbon, prima flowers and swirls. The alpahbet stickers are from my stash and the stamps are Teresa Collins and Kaisercraft.

Please check back tomorrow for sketch 4 and my take on it.

Be sure to pop on over to Scrapbook Challenges to have a look at what the other design team members have come up with.

Happy Scrappin'

scrapbook challenges - sketch 305

Dear Bloggers

thank you for visiting today. If you are looking for a sketch challenge, pop on over to scrapbook challenges for this weeks latest sketch. Sketch 305 is due in on Sunday.

Here is my take on the sketch:

I used a sepia photo together with the 'fabulous' range by simple stories. i fussy cut the bottom border, made a photo mat, misted my doilie and cut the tags on the side and the tag behind the photo.

the bottom strip is a quote from dr Seuss: "today you are you. that is truer than true. there is no one alive who is your than you." just love it!

The alphabet stickers are from the same simple stories range.

Here are some close ups ~

The sketch in question is:

Hope you enjoy playing along with this sketch. Be sure to upload your take on the sketch to the Scrapbook Challenges gallery. There are also many challenges going on too - will keep you busy and give you lots of inspiration!!

sketch 304 - picture perfect

welcome!

thank you for dropping by my little corner of creativity!

this week's sketch at scrapbook challenges is sketch 304. see it here:

Here is my take on the sketch. I had to rearrange things around a bit to fit into my embellishments, which is the point of a sketch isn't it?

I used the Bo Bunny Razz Matazz range, which i have kept for about 2 years. I knew the paper would be perfect for my sister, who is currently a professional photographer on a Royal Caribbean Cruise liner. I am so proud of her, but do miss her terribly. But that will all end soon - as SHE IS HOME THIS WEEK! :)

There is a journalling card with some thoughts for her. i fussy cut out the cameras from the paper to use as embellishments.

I distressed the background pages, and inked everything. The photos were sanded, in order to 'pop' off the page. (love that technique). Doillies are so popular at the moment, and i left this one white, but usually ink or mist them to blend more.

I had a small camera charm which i've kept for years, and i knew it would be perfect on this layout. The border punch i used on the cardstock on the right was my fiskars punch.

Please pop over to Scrapbook Challenges to view all the wonderful layouts by the other design team members. You can upload your take on the sketch to the gallery.

Remember the weekly sketch is up every Monday, so you have until Sunday night to complete this sketch.

Have scrappy fun!
