Moving Day

hi everyone

we have been packing and packing and sourcing curtains, and packing some more - all ready for the BIG move on Friday!

we have found a new house in walmer heights, and are really looking forward to being settled in there shortly. this however does mean a disruption to the scrapbooking (and quite frankly anything that doesn't require a tv at this stage, else its probably in a box) and i have therefore not been able to scrap this week. but i will without delay get going next week again. i see there is a great new sketch up over at pencil lines sketches  and i will have my attempt up hopefully next week (assuming the move goes well.....)

here is sketch 256

here are some pics our agent, jaco rademeyer, took of the house. (this blog is more for memory sake for me, so bear with me here!) pics of the new house will be up as soon as the boxes are sorted out.

have a wonderful day, and i'll check in again after the BIG move on Friday!

You can get your kits from Jenny at i-scrap, Cape Road, Port Elizabeth or email me on zoe@scrappers.co.za

Off the Page for Morgan's Room

hi everyone,

hope you had a lovely weekend. i managed to relax, scrap and get some packing done. we realised that this is our last weekend to pack, as next weekend Janice and Daine (sister and hubby) arrive from UK and then we move the following friday - so it was a bit of panic station! but we have a plan and are managing to pack up rather quickly.

So last week i finally managed to get to this project that i've had for well over a year. I went to a Beswick Retailers day and this was one of the projects we did - but i didn't actually do much of it. So it was like having a blank canvas to work from (gorgeous!!)

We had a blank wooden block with the keyholder screws. I played around with the cutoffs i had in my stash and decided on Prima.

Photo was taken May 2010 when Morgan was 10 months old

Some close ups:

The LOVE Bling is Making Memories

All the paper die-cuts (10, birds, keys, paper cuts, butterflys, stickers etc)are from Girls Paperie (from the stash we received at convention). The swirl is obviously Prima.

Since it is for Morgan's room (and she is only 2 years old) i thought the bright, multi-colours worked best. The elements all came together nicely and I'm quite pleased with the outcome. Now just to keep little hands off it so it stays in one piece!

Hope you managed to get some creative juices flowing this weekend.

Have a good week everyone

Pencil line Sketch entry

Hello fellow scrappers!

hope you are having a nice weekend. I completed the Pencil line sketch as per my last post, and here is my effort:

Live laugh love - single layout

I used a bazzil cardstock for the background, and Kaisercraft Be Mine Dotty (P196) for the patterned paper. The front side, with the dots was used on the left, and the other half of the sheet was used for the scallop. I traced the shape from another Kaisercraft die cut paper.

The flowers are PETALOO Chantilly Collection, Velvet Hydrangeas - Roase (1272-161).
The title is from Making Memories, as well as the 'M' Charm. The embellishment next to the title is from Prima.
The clock and butterfly transparencies are Heidi Swapp. I stamped on the butterfly and on the top left corner of the paper with the new Kaisercraft 13th hour stamp. I used Versamagic and brilliance ink and chalk on my layout.

I hope you like my take on the layout. If you also gave it a go, please post a link to your website.

Picture Perfect

Double layout
 Hi Everyone

What a wonderful weekend its been, but can Monday be almost here already?

Morgan starts a new school tomorrow. She is going from a small creche, with about 5 kids to a schoolwith 100, not sure she understands what i've told her!

Here is my latest effort. A double layout using stunning pics of her and some paper from my stash.

Prima flowers, Enmarc chipboard, prima swirls

American Crafts ribbon, cricut cut title, Tim Holtz tab die cuts

I designed this layout and was so pleased with the way it came out. We went to Knysna in August and had a lovely time as a family. When we went up to Knysna Heads we encouraged Morgan to sit on the rock and  pose! first time ever that she agreed to do anything like this. I was pleasantly surprised with the way the photos came out!

The American Craft ribbon is just gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! I think it really complimented the page nicely. The paper I used is all My Minds Eye, Bohemian Range (that i've used a hundred times over but can't get enough of it!) The flowers are an old Prima range and the swirls are also Prima.

I cut the title - Picture Perfect, with my Cricut (Opposites attract cartridge) and the tabs on both pages were cut with my Tim Holtz tab edgers, on my Cuttlebug machine, also with the MME Bohemian Range offcuts.

This layout is special to me and i'm so thrilled with the way it came out!

Hope you all had a stunning weekend. Thanks for stopping by.

Emotional time

What a week its been. we had to put our dear Brandi dog down on Tuesday. We knew the time was coming, but when my husband called me at work on Tuesday to say be at the vet at 3.45pm I was quite overwhelmed. My poor doggie.

She would have been 12 years old in April, and being such a big dog (boerboel) that is very good going. Her brother went in February and she hasn't stopped pining for him since.

We love you both, may you guys be together in doggie heaven. My husband and I got our dogs a year into our relationship and it was just the 4 of us for nearly 10 years!

here is a pic of our babies:

Pets are wonderful additions to any family and they sure do leave pawprints on your heart.

Final thoughts

so today was a day of finality, a day of closure - but I have a silver lining!

Even though i knew the day was coming, and we have been preparing for a month for it - it was harder than i thought! Scrapaholics stopped trading last week, Wednesday, 29 September. We have spent the weekend cleaning up, boxing the last of the stock (which thank goodness isn't too much!) repainting etc. But when i gave over the keys today it was a bit of a surreal experience. That is MY building, MY space - just can't imagine not going in there anymore!

I had some great moments at Scrapaholics and i'm not sorry that i took the journey. I have met some extraordinary people and made friendships that will last a lifetime.

One of which is becoming a new venture. I am so excited about this new venture and can't wait to share it with you all. Not much longer now and all the details will be ironed out.......

I also managed to get some scrapbooking done this weekend and I am LOVING the time i can spend on it again. I have also designed so many sketches for layouts, and have started on my kits already. I am hoping to have them available and in store this month for you all. Watch this space to keep posted

Happy Monday Scrappin' everyone

Blessings

Kaisercraft October Sketch 1

Good day scrapbookers

I love looking at sketches for inspiration. The Weekly Saturday sketch from Kaisercraft is usually a hit and i love the Prima ones too. Gosh there are so many out there to choose from, and its a great start to get your creative juices going!

Here is this weeks Kaisercraft Sketch

Here is my take on it. The colours are really out of my comfort zone as i usually use more subdued colours and never ever make it so colourful!

But i am really pleased with the way it turned out.

Playful - single layout

The embellishments were cut out of paper

Title is made from old alpha stickers I had

I used Kaisercraft Party Animals Collection  - Hooray and Kaisercraft Fun Fair - Big Top for the background. The coloured cardstock is a Bazzil shape.

It took me ages to painstakingly cut out the animal tower and the flags. I used dimensional glaze on the flags to give them dimension. The animal stack is raised with foam tape to give it depth.

The tickets are from the Kaisercraft Seashore Collection and the circular jounalling spot is a Jilly Bean Sprout Journalling sprout.

I hope  you enjoyed my take on the sketch.

Thanks for stopping by

Week of Emotions

this week is full of emotions
different emotions
being everything to everyone is difficult
being a mom, businesswoman, employee, employer

i did some scrapping last night
so pleased with my layout
got my photots printed today
so pleased with myself

i mentioned in my previous post that i was getting all my half and unfinished projects in order. this is a layout that we did with tracy schimper, probably about 2 years ago! its a heritage one, of my mom. i just need her to journal in it for me, but i'm really pleased with the way it has turned out.

hope you are having a wonderful weekend. it feels that the weather has warmed up some what - lets hope summer is finally on its way...

In a Rut

sometimes i am unable to sit down and find inspiration. do you ever feel like that too? i surf all the stunning blogs and everyone's work and think how gorgeous the layouts and projects are. then i wonder when i will create something, but i am so busy 'researching' what i want to do that i don't actually get around to doing it ! silly.....

we do that in life too. we are so often looking at other people's lives, other situations, envying others and what they have that we too often forget to live our own lives and what we have. life lessons i guess....

i have so many u.f.l (unfinished layouts) that i have really made an effort lately to get them sorted out. i put the layouts that need journalling or titles together, some are missing one or two pics and others that really need some care and attention. i have found this has really worked to help me feel sorted, and when i sit down with only a few minutes, i know i can grab the 'easy ones' to finish (ie titles, journalling etc).

i have reduced my u.f.l drastically this past 2 months and am so pleased. here is one that i have managed to 'throw together'.

i used bo bunny papers and just loved the colours. my sister printed the pictures with a white border, which i never ever do, and the result is so stunning on this page with all the colours. i don't think the picture reflects the lovely colourful layout. i stamped with kaisercraft stamp for the journalling and the felt flowers were a find at a CNA sale, for next to nothing!

quick simple and easy-peasy

Farewell to Scrapaholics

The time has come to say farewell to Scrapaholics. What a wonderful journey it has been. I have learnt so much, met some stunning ladies, been more creative than i could ever have imagined, made new friends, learnt life lessons and more!

With my full time job, 2 year old toddler (and another one due in January), the state of the world economy and the increased rental on the new lease, i think the time was right. I have loved Scrapaholics, not only for what it meant to me and preserving my memories, but also to my valued customers. The wonderful creative outlet that the shop is, and what it has meant to so many people is encouraging.

I am definitely going to be making kits, and hopefully be teaching too - so I have no doubt that I will see you all again!

The Scrapaholics blog won't be updated anymore and I will be posting here from now on - watch this space for preggie updates and some scrapping that I have managed to do. I spent 3 glorious hours while Morgan slept catching up on some unfinished projects. Yayness

Inspiration

happy new year and welcome twenty-eleven. wow, are we sure glad you arrived!

so i've been rather bad about my blogging on this site, as you may have noticed. i have however decided that 2011 is my year and i WILL be blogging more, so keep posted to hear my ramblings.

inspiration, where does it come from and how do you use it? i take my inspiration from various places namely my daughter - her laugh, cute sayings and activities give me fantastic scrapbooking ideas. what about movies? i loved "julie and julia", that got me into the kitchen and trying out new receipes. that was pure cooking inspiration.

health, food, vitality, fitness - well the mirror gives me that inspiration. realising that another year has rolled around, and thats not the only thing that is rolling around me! 2011 is going to be a year of gym, healthy eating, more time in the kitchen preparing, less ready made meals, giving morgan the best organic and fresh foods.

shopping is great inspiration. whoever coined the term 'retail therapy' is a gal after my own heart. i tried it again this weekend, just to make sure it still works and i'm pleased to announce that 'yes!' retail shopping still has appeal. our local shopping complex, walmer park, has had some extension done and there are 1 or 2 really cute shops there.

time time and time remain terms that elude me however and i haved decided to try find more time this coming year. time to relax, time to spend with morgan, time with my family, time for me, time for gym, time for scrapbooking, time for work, time for neglected friends, time for blogging and so the list goes on......

organised is something i used to be. my husband says he doesn't recognise me anymore! shows you that porridge brain is not some term made up by a quack. its real and i have it! now that i don't want it anymore, how do i get rid of it? refer paragraph above, maybe the two are connected? i'll keep you posted

the turkey has been eaten, the meat has been braaied and we are back at work. summer holidays are truly awesome and i have relaxed so much. this week brings a fantastic family wedding that i am so looking foward to. heres to janice and daine, may this weekend be all you want it to be.

God bless, may His light shine upon you this week. catch you next week for some more ramblings, and maybe a receipe or scrapbooking page?

much love
