I'm really enjoying my running. Its fantastic to be putting in the hard work and dedication and being able to see results. Today I did my first 8km run, who would have thought!! Just a couple of months ago I was running 2km at best.

Having a training partner certainly helps. Wayne has been awesome, he's been running for about 2 years and has completed a few marathons. He's so willing to pass on his knowledge and to encourage and support me. We are running at 5am during the week, 4 times a week. Weekends are used for longer runs, and I need to get in some cross training soon. Swimming is a good cross trainer,.

Having a training schedule is helpful. It keeps me focused and goal orientated. I am doing my first half marathon in July, at the Knysna oyster weekend. That's 10weeks away, and I'm happy to report that I am ahead of my schedule. It is so good to be able to see my progress. Last week I did 31km for the week. Whoop whoop!!!

I've been searching some blogs, and will be back soon with some inspiration from the web.

How is your training going?

The Challenge

Dear Bloggers

About 8 weeks ago I challenged some peers to do the corporate ironman with me. Each as individuals, doing all 3 disciplines ourselves.

Well, the past 8 weeks have flown and ironman fever has hit Nelson Mandela Bay! With only a few sleeps left one hopes that the training was enough to conquer this milestone. For the avid athlete the corporate ironman probably doesn't conjour much respect, but for my colleagues and myself we have gone from almost ground zero to doing all 3 disciplines. 380m swim - 18km cycle - 4.2km run.

Driving around the city and seeing the ironman branding, road closures and 'infrastructure construction' at the beachfront is so exciting. We welcome many participants, supporters and friends too the bay this week and its truly an honour to be part of ironman South Africa's 10th anniversary.

Good luck to all who are entering and hope to see the rest of you there as supporters!
